The Kenya Curling Federation is proud to announce the appointment of Ambassador Thomas Kwaka Omolo, widely known as Big Ted, to join the Board of Directors as the Kenya Curling Patron, effective 29th May 2025.

Ambassador Kwaka is a decorated public servant, a seasoned diplomat, and an unwavering youth and talent development champion. With over a decade of transformative leadership in Kenya’s sports, arts, and creative economy, his appointment brings renewed energy to Kenya Curling’s expanding ambitions—both locally and globally.

As Kenya’s former Consul General in Los Angeles, Big Ted has masterfully led cultural diplomacy, deepened diaspora engagement, and promoted Kenya’s image across continents. He is celebrated for spearheading Kenya’s brand strategy under the Presidency, driving impactful initiatives like the Creative Economy Recovery Strategy, and championing inclusive sports and cultural policies.

Notably, as Presidential Liaison at the Ministry of Sports, he played an instrumental role in key global sporting events hosted in Kenya—including the WRC Safari Rally, World Athletics U20 Championships, and the Kip Keino Classic. His involvement reflects a legacy of turning sporting platforms into global stages for Kenyan talent.

We are honored to welcome Ambassador Big Ted to the Kenya Curling family. His strategic vision, cultural influence, and deep-rooted passion for youth empowerment will be vital as we pursue qualification for the 2026 Winter Olympics and strengthen Kenya’s position in global curling.

Ambassador Big Ted’s entry into the Federation signals a bold new chapter where culture, diplomacy, and curling intersect to uplift a new generation of Kenyan athletes.
